United States Government

Homework due Thursday, April 26

From the menu at the right margin, select “logrolling” and “pork-barrel legislation”.
Write (and learn) the definitions of each term.

Go to: http://www.cagw.org/reports/pig-book/2012,  The 2012 Pig Book Summary

      Read the Introduction

Select a category that corresponds to one of your Congressional committees (from the Standing Committee Chest activity).  Peruse the “pork-barrel” (aka “earmarks”) in your category and choose TWO that to you best illustrate pork-barreling in action.  Make notes on the following points:
            Dollar amount
            Description of project
Name, state, and Congressional district of Congressional sponsor
How the earmark benefited the Congressman’s district (if not obvious from the above)

Be prepared to make an oral report on your findings
