Both:    Read (either in print or online)  America: Pathways to the Present, Chapter 1, Section 2, p. 15 (“Seafaring Technology”)  - 16, 22-28, 36-40 (up to “Forts for Defense”)  (See handout for instructions on accessing the textbook online.)

            Start the Explorers Chart using America: Pathways to the Present, p. 37 map, and two maps that were e-mailed to you.
